Trailer: Person-Centered Couples Counselling – Allan Turner & Kate Stubbings

This is important, but an often neglected area of Person Centred Counselling. There is very little theoretical writing which is exclusively person-centered, on this subject. This presentation is unashamedly person-centered and will focus on PCA theory as it is applied to couples work.

Our two presenters are both very experienced in the field with more than 40 years experience between them. They are both Senior Accredited members of BACP.

They are passionately interested in working with couples and find this the most rewarding, but challenging, an aspect of their counseling work. They described it as the most demanding, challenging, absorbing, fascinating work they do. It uses all aspects of themselves, their empathy, compassion, emotion, wit, and intellect.

The presentation will start with a consideration of how the person-centered “six conditions” can be applied to couples work, followed by a description of their practical application. This will be followed by a demonstration of Allan and Kate’s work and finally, they hope to offer a little time for questions.”
